Patients asked for their views on neurology services
www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/13715836.Patients_asked_for_their_views_on_neurology_services/ PATIENTS in Worcestershire with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy are being asked for their views as part of a county-wide revamp of health services.
The county’s three Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) have asked support agency NHiS Commissioning Excellence [NHiS is a Wilmington Plc Company] to review neurological services and determine whether they are meeting patient’s needs.
The report will take account of the views of patients as well as health and social care workers with an aim to improve links between services and improve care overall.
As part of this an event will be held at the The Church of the Sacred Heart and St Catherine of Alexandria in Worcester Road, Droitwich, from 3.30pm on Tuesday, September 15 where patients and professionals will be asked for their views.
Chief executive of NHiS Commissioning Excellence Sue Thomas said the organisation had carried out similar successful reviews in other areas of the country.
“Historically the NHS has delivered services without truly involving patients in the decision-making process,” she said. “Patients often tell us that services are too focused on the hospital and want care that is closer to home - this is a fantastic opportunity for patients to have their say on the services they use.”

Last year members of our group were able to take part in the national survey, and now we have a local opportunity.
Alliance launch England-wide survey into neurological care | 22 July 2014 The Neurological Alliance have launched an online survey to collect information about the experiences people have had with their care. The survey – open to anyone with a neurological condition living in England – will stay open until Monday, September 15.
The Alliance, who work with more than 80 neurological charities and patient groups in England, say the results will be fed into a major report, due to be published later this year. The survey contains about 25 questions and should take no longer than 20 minutes to complete.
No information is given about whether those who are unable to complete surveys online can ask for paper copies of the questionnaire.
